30 yrs in the making

It's like looking in a mirror ... 30 years ago that is! Audrey's entering kindergarten and while @ Bizer's this morning for her required eye exam, found out she has to wear glasses! She's far-sighted w/a stigmatism. Immediately I begin to think of the things I've passed on to her ... bad teeth, poor vision, thin hair ... and none of them seemed flattering! Yet I look at this photo of her just minutes after she got her first pair of glasses and I realize she looks just like me & that's enough for her. It makes her happy! So it makes me happy. Maybe she'll be the nerd, intro-vert, teacher's pet like her Momma. But she'll also be the smartest, most loved, & sweetest student in kindergarten. I'm so proud to see this reflection thirty years in the making!

1.75

I can't believe it's been over a year and seven months (1.75) since I posted. Actually .... yes I can believe it. I've been distracted by kids, facebook, L & O, scrapbooking, etc. Well, jump forward to the start of Summer Break 2009, the last summer before my daughter starts kindergarten and hopefully 19 more years of learning (because she'll need a Masters degree to do anything in 2028). I'm spending this week w/ her enjoying every minute my body will allow me to. Yesterday was her school physical & a trip to Target (always fun for both of us). Today was a haircut (see picture) followed by a trip to the Mall (also always fun for both of us). The weather has been extremely disappointing however --every time we prepare for the Slip & Slide it begins to rain. The backyard is prepped & ready for sunshine. So we wait, because in KY that's what you do when you don't like the weather, right? And then there is life's little details --like 1.75 days until PAYDAY when we can shop more. :)
