Firsts

My daughter's first day of school was yesterday, 8/14/07. It makes me so sad & yet proud. She said it was "great, awesome" so I have to be thrilled about that. She is only going 1/2 days and she gets to spend her afternoons with Mamaw & Papaw so that makes it easier for her to transition as well. It's just so hard to believe that she can be this tall young girl in the photo ... when I can remember as plain as if it were yesterday our 1st Christmas together when she was about 6 wks old sleeping against my chest as I danced around the Christmas tree in our liv ing room singing "Let it be Christmas".

The Metz

Our 1st family photo since Audrey's been alive (10/21/03). We went to the Papa John's headquarters in town and as luck would have it ... it was a gorgeous summer day and Audrey smiled sorta!

This is absolutely the best picture of the day. I think the head tilt means my child has been conditioned over the past 4 years (almost) to the paparazzi (aka MOM, Nana, Mamaw).

In just over a week my darling daughter starts preschool. I am excited for her because she is a bright sponge but sad for me because my baby is growing up faster every day it seems.

She will thrive in the Montessori program though. And I can look forward to hundreds of stories and projects that come home with her each day. So the Metzlers (Metz) embark on a new era ... the education of lil' Metz.
